Rochas Spring 2014 Shows a Fairytale with Attitude

Rochas never fails to impress. It was Marco Zanini's last show before he headed over to Schiaparelli and he certainly went out with a loving, beautifully gilded bang. We're a sucker for girly clothes, sure menswear-inspired pieces are great and there is room in our heart for them, but our passion is looking like the beautiful, articulate, sweet yet powerful ladies that we are. And that's exactly what Rochas Spring 2014 lady looked like: sure of her sexuality but also completely aware of the control she has over other people.

With straight-forward shapes and fantasy-inspired fabrics the collection is an exercise in grown-up princess. Pastels ruled the runway in shades of citrus, pale pink and beige along with powder blues and silver. The Stepford wives have come into their own - they're still perfect, they just have an attitude this go round.

What's not to love about a bright, shimmery floral? These modest silhouettes are anything but basic in bold fabrics.

Tulle and chiffon are two of our favorite fabrics when it comes to clothing...paired with an oversized embellished tee or a seemingly sheer polo, these frothy skirts are swept away into the land of modern fairytales.

Ruffles got an edgy update at Rochas Spring 2014 in pale yellow and crisp white.

We can't help but love the glimpse of skin these garments allow - Carrie Bradshaw came to mind.

How do you keep being completely covered up from seeming boring and modest? With sheer fabrics and bold textures. Bed-head and shades don't hurt either.

These flats are so ridiculously impractical they're fabulous. We're seriously contemplating seeing if we can't embellish a pair we already own with ostrich feathers...

Shorts don't have to mean sloppy; paired with a sheer blouse in a complimentary color they become uber chic while toppers in either the form of a jacket or sheer cardigan help complete any look.

Straight-forward and ladylike shapes don't have to mean tired and out of style - keep things interesting with of-the-moment colors, bold accessories and not-so-perfect hair.

We must admit, the first ten-ish looks of the show had us concerned that this show was a bust. But like the loyal fashionistas we are, we endured and were rewarded for our loyalty...though there were a few more pieces that were wholly un-imaginative the ratio started to lean more in our favor. We're not completely sold but there are a couple of fun dresses that we'd love to have in our closets.

The sparkly dresses with deep-v's down to there are certainly attention-grabbers and while we appreciate the sexiness of the sheer tops we're not sure how fresh the concept is...besides to wear it out we would need add at least a lacy bra underneath, changing the entire look. We did have a few favorites: the flouncy kelly green dress with black netting would be perfect for a night out in the upcoming warmer months and we could always find a reason to wear the black cocktail dresses with interesting sculptural shapes. The rest we could probably live without - or at least find a comparable version at the mall. Not a total miss but certainly not our favorite show. Better luck in the Fall YSL!

The black opening dress with a sparkly V almost down to the models navel certainly got our attention while the new take on a pinstripe suit is interesting but not exactly the most original.

We love a leather mini...and we love a flash of skin but it's been done before. Quite a bit actually. Time to step up your game YSL!

These flouncy cocktail dresses are among our favorite looks - though they show quite a bit of skin, the volume offsets the sexiness while the jackets paired with short socks and heels add a personal touch.

We love a good mix of patterns and YSL excelled in that department - from Waldo stripes paired with glitter jackets to black and pink with leopard print, don't be afraid to step outside the box.

One-shoulder gowns are still en vogue and get an updated with shorter sleeves in prints paired with leather leggings or to-the-floor sequins.

Our favorites from the show, these black cocktail gowns are anything but boring with interesting structural details that can be worn year-round. Make the look your own with accessories to match your personality.

Badgley Mischka Looks to the Past for Spring Inspiration

Sometimes, the best way to be inspired to create something new is to look to the past and reimagine what you see. This is exactly what Badgley Mischka did for their Spring 2014 Collection, reworking silhouettes from the 20's and 30's in whites and navy blue for the first portion of the show before moving into evening gowns.

The second half of the show was our favorite with it's Easter egg hued gowns in ethereal fabrics that floated around the models feet as they walked. Our best picks? Any of the floor length dresses, between the tulle and chiffon textures and the fresh style of beading. We expect to see these at awards shows for years to come!

Inspiration from the 20's and 30's lends itself to these sweeping (and incredibly flattering!) skirts and pants paired with coordinating tops. Not to mention we really really want that white hat.

Love tweed but hate how hot it is once the temps warm up? Badgley Mischka has the answer with their lightweight navy and white tweed that not only looks smart but has a fashion-forward neckline (left). The subtle striping (right) is gorgeously executed and shows a hint of skin with the sheer paneling.

Fluttering ruffles showed up on the runway in both short and floor-length dresses in whites and navy - we can't help but fall for the skirt on the formal dark blue dress.

These gowns are absolutely stunning. From more covered up in coral apricot silk to a deep v-neck in lavender tulle they're sure to be a hit on the awards red carpets.

Badgley Mischka takes beading to a whole different level as seen on this embellished pencil skirt and a drop-waist floor length gown.

Fluttery chiffon and beaded skirts in light blue and turquoise are some of the most beautiful of the Spring 2014 Collection.

So beautiful they could be worn to any red carpet, these floaty, breezy dresses are incredibly flattering on any skin tone and the true definition of romantic.

Looking to embrace your girliness? Looking for an alternative to structured pants and modern tops? Your search stops at Temperley London's Spring 2014 Collection; full of shades of pink and purple, beautifully merged patterns, floaty fabrics and poofy tulle and chiffon appliqués the garments are a modern girly-girl's dream.

Rich shades of pink and neutral silk paired with layers of sheer chiffon make for ethereal, goddess-like gowns while the bright silver-white embellished column skirt is a fresh break from sequins and beading. We can't help but fall in love with the everyday take on a wedding gown with its shorter hem in the front and semi-train in the back and the leopard print mixed with pink and purple floral pattern is nothing short of sheer genius. Temperley London doesn't just stick shades of pink though and shows that an all-black ensemble can be anything but boring when you mix the right textures. A sheer to-the-floor a-line skirt with floral appliqués paired with a minimalist tee and maximalist tulle jacket makes for an attention-grabbing look that's far from wallflower.

The epitome of grown-up, modern Barbie dresses, these floral-embellished pink silk and chiffon concoctions look like walking cotton candy. And we love cotton candy.

Short and voluminous or floor length and paired with a patterned top, these color-blocked silk skirts are sure to fit seamlessly into your wardrobe.

Frothy pale pink creations float around the models' legs as they glide down the runway, right on cue for Spring 2014.

On trend for Spring these white garments shone brightly on the runway. From long embellished column dresses to what could pass as an unassuming wedding gown don't be afraid to embrace white in it's many forms.

We've seen pattern mixing in the past but never anything quite like this - leopard tops and jackets paired with floor-length ivory skirts and gowns brushed with pink and purple florals.

Play with proportion like this voluminous black and purple floral skirt paired with an a-line black top or play with print by pairing a lace lilac top with sheer paneling with a bold leopard print skirt.

At Temperley London, black is anything but boring when you pair an embellished sheer chiffon skirt with a statement jacket. The chiffon and tulle skirt is a must have - it pairs with anything in your closet.

Spice up your LBD with a deep-v neckline and luxurious fabrics. Show some leg with shorter hemlines or an illusion overlay.

Vogue's More is More Editorial has Us Wishing for Spring 2014's Stunningly Extravagant Clothes

Editorials are almost always hit or miss, either fabulous or disappointing, never seeming to be in between. Vogue has NAILED it with their More is More spread in the February 2014 issue highlighting the best looks from the Spring 2014 Collections - from Celine to Louis Vuitton to Calvin Klein and more. We can't help but completely get behind the idea that Vogue has proposed: that this season is the "triumph of personality over perfection and experimentation over timid trend-following that makes 2014 the year of dressing dangerously."

We love a little danger, a little insanity (after all the Mad Hatter always has and always will be our favorite Alice in Wonderland character) and we believe one of the worst things to be (at least style-wise) is boring. The Spring 2014 collections are anything but boring. Fun, extravagant and full of personality, these clothes are the epitome of character. Marc Jacobs' rein at Louis Vuitton may be over but he certainly went out with a bang! We can't take our eyes off that gorgeous headdress and the details in the clothing.

Brocade is like tweed: it never goes out of style. Rochas takes that to the next level with gilded gold separates and some of the most fantastic flats we've ever seen.
