Spring 2014 Trend Alert: Overalls
Overalls can be fashionable when paired with a figure-enhancing top, killer heels and modern accessories.
Yep, you read that right, the same ol' overalls you rocked in middle school in the 90's are back in style.  Fashion really does repeat itself.  While we weren't hugely fond of them when we were younger (come on tutu's and skorts were way better) we think this go round we can totally pull it off.

Spring 2014 Trend Alert: Overalls
If you're going to mix pattern in with your overalls, make sure you add some chic accessories like a pretty bag, girly bracelets and stylish sunnies to keep the overall look fashionable instead of childish or overly country.
Whether it's a shorty-shortys version or full length, overalls are classically made out of denim although we have seen black, pink cotton-blend prints and event leather versions.  Regardless of which fabric and color you pick there are two very important things to remember when putting together your suspender-inspired summer outfit.

Spring 2014 Trend Alert: Overalls
Does denim remind you too much of middle-school?  Try an updated version of overalls like this apricot print to keep things fresh and decidedly more grown-up,

1.  Proportion
Overalls are inherently baggy by design so make sure you balance out the rest of the proportions.  First and foremost, if you're wearing the full length pants version, either choose a pair with a narrow leg that ends at your ankle (like cafe pants) or roll up the pant legs - you're not a kid this time and  in order to make this a fashion-forward outfit you need to show your shape.  Secondly, spend some time picking out what you're going to wear underneath.  Add some sex appeal by adding a crop top to help balance the bagginess and show some skin (which will look extra appealing if you happen to have a tan).  The idea is to show that you are, indeed, a girl and not a mechanic.  If you aren't comfortable showing off the sides of your stomach try a form-fitting black or white tee or tank, it will have the same effect.  Stay away from anything too loose or blousey and leave the loud prints and patterns for another outfit unless you want to relive your younger years.

Proportion matters - roll up your pants if you choose full length overalls and don't be afraid to show some skin with a fitted crop top.

2.  Accessories
Just as important as having the rights shapes is adding the right finishing pieces.  Whether it's shorts or rolled up pants, heels are an absolute must.  We've seen celebrities and models rocking overalls with keds but if you truly want to make a statement, add a girlie pair of non-fussy heels.  Close-toed or peep toe pumps, wedges or sandals, it really doesn't matter - choose something that speaks to you while helping lengthen your leg line and add a much needed does of femininity.  Choose coordinating jewelry and a small, structured crossbody bag or clutch to pull the look together.

Spring 2014 Trend Alert: Overalls
Have fun with your overalls!  Remember, as with any fashion statement, you have to have the confidence to pull it off so choose something you like and stand by it,
We think you're going to look great in a pair of overalls but we completely respect you sitting out a trend (there is no way on planet earth that you are ever going to get us to wear a pair of Uggs.  It's just not happening.).  If you're just not really in the mood to jump right in and go back to wearing a 5th grade staple there are a few things you can do to help you warm up to the idea without diving in head-first.  Ease into the trend with a pretty feminine romper or borrow a pair of your man's suspenders to wear with shorts or a mini skirt to nod at fashion's latest it-piece without having to full participate.  Extra points if you add a bowtie.
