Bouchra Jarra Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture

It's silky track pants meets structured tweed at the Bouchra Jarra Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture Runway Show.  Well, that and some flowy animal print dresses thrown in for good measure.

Innovative?  Eh, kind of.  The most beautiful things that we've ever seen?  Pieces that make us gasp and immediately try to figure out how many paychecks we would have to save up so we can purchase them?  Not so much.  There are a couple of pretty, interesting pieces, namely the tweed vests and the black and white tops but as an overall collection we were underwhelmed.  It's Haute Couture not Fall Ready to Wear.  Pretty?  Sure.  Well tailored?  Certainly.  Our favorite?  Definitely not.

The ruffled jackets and tops are a win - they're fun, interesting and we're intrigued by both the textured versions and the clean, simple style.  With that said, while the pants are beautifully cut and tailored, they are indeed, quite boring.  This is far from Haute Couture.

We can't help but admit we don't care for silk track pants.  It's been done and it's on it's way out.  We didn't like it the first time around and we don't like it now.  The tops on the other hand, are dramatically better than their lower half counterparts but the magic is missing.

Aside from the hair and shoes, these two pieces don't even look like they belong in the same collection...the constant in this show that kept things at least a tiny bit cohesive?  A cinched waist.

Thank you to Style for the photos!
