Fall 2014

Schiaparelli Fall/Winter 2014 Haute Couture

10:32 AM

Schiaparelli's Fall 2014 Haute Couture Runway Show brought us clothes that is exactly what haute couture is supposed to be:  out there and larger than life.  Would some of the pieces look slightly out of place in "the real world"? Of course, but that could be said for just about any runway show that has ever walked.  And besides, art isn't meant to blend in seamlessly with the world around it.  It's mean to stand out, to shout its own praises.

Are some of the pieces a little, well, costumey?  A tiny bit camp?  Sure, but that's the brand and we're happy to see that at Marco Zanini's second Haute Couture show he has completely embraced the brand and said 'to hell with what the critics think.'  We have a feeling they are going to love him for that.  Besides, there are a few pieces that we would love to own as well as most of the accessories - those gloves and clutches are to die for.  Except, we aren't exactly sure about the hats.  We have a feeling that they may grow on us.

Schiparelli's F/W 2014 Haute Couture Collection truly embraced the brand and we love Zanini for that.  From bold colors and prints to unexpected proportions we can appreciate the time, effort and creativity that went into creating these pieces of art.

From the fur bolero to the crocodile skirt and bleeding heart sweater we can easily see these translating into incredible street style pieces.  Could someone please tell us where we can find a pair of those suede gloves?

From the earlier, slightly camp pieces the show ended on a super chic note; these ladylike pieces are sure to appeal to a range of women both young and old.

Thank you to Style for the photos!
