Kate Spade's Paris-Inspired Spring 2014 New Arrivals

Long known for its sense-of-humor take on handbags, accessories and clothing, Kate Spade has been a personal favorite of ours for years. One of the best parts about the line is that there's always something new whether you're in stores or online. And ever since a store opened on Savannah's Broughton Street this past summer a large chunk of our paycheck has gone towards brightly colored purses with strategically placed bows, glittery shoes, idiom bracelets and girly skirts. It's a sure fire way to boost your mood the second you put them on. To help you figure out exactly what to spend your hard-earned cash on, we've compiled our favorites from the new arrivals. Enjoy!

Handbags

Not just known for tongue-in-cheek bags (although we do love those!), Kate Spade does have dozens of styles of grown-up girly purses in dozens of shapes. Think professional without taking yourself too seriously. Black bags with a perfectly placed bow. Or a bright pink bag. We don't really like too serious around here.

It's just not Kate Spade without new jewelry. The entire collection was inspired by travels to Paris and while that's a more subtle influence in the pretty mint watches, it was a more in-your-face inspiration in the charm and idiom bracelets. The "mrs" and "taken" bracelets? We figured there might still be a few guys out there trying to figure out what to get their lovely ladies for the big V-day coming up. You're welcome.

Maybe you're not a clothes girl (although we think that's unlikely if you're reading this blog) or maybe you already own everything we suggested or at least something like it (more like it). Regardless of your reasons, there's no rule that says you have to spruce up your house when the seasons change but we things it's a great rule to follow! Spring 2014's Top 3 Transition Trends

We get it. It's still cold. Even in Savannah where it's supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow it's still in the 40's at night and we consider that COLD (it's a relative term) and we don't even deal with that fluffy wet white stuff. But seriously, it's a week through February and who cares what the groundhog says - we're bursting into the next season! We like to live on the edge...but we don't like to be cold. At all. So let's take a look at how to Spring-ify our wardrobes without sacrificing our toes to frostbite.

1. Ditch the Depressing Coat for a Fun Version

First and foremost, unless it's still snowing up to your ears (and even if it is!), lose the dark colored topper in lieu of something brighter or printed. You could even opt for a thinner material if the weather permits and utilize more layers. We're not saying no coat at all, especially if you actually might freeze to death, but fun prints like those at Proenza Schouler and Edun or choose lighter fabrics as seen at Tommy Hilfiger and Prabal Gurung.

2. Try New Colors (or Non-Colors)

Spring almost always guarantees the return of bold colors and prints and 2014 is no exception. Try bright shades of coral or yellow like those seen at Roksanda, a pretty floral like Tracy Reese and Christian Dior or a brilliant abstract print like those at Peter Pilotto (in Target stores on Sunday, 9 February). If you aren't into that much color you could go in the opposite direction and try the mono-chromatic white that was seen on several runways including Rachel Zoe, Viktor Rolf and Preen.

3. Embrace Orange Lips

You can test this trend out regardless of the temperature outside. Try out red's bold sister - the tangerine that was seen all over runways everywhere this Spring. Potentially more bold than red lips, orange tends to flatter just about everyone once you find just the right hue. Head on over to your local makeup haven (Sephora is my fav) and try on every shade they have until you find one that suits you - just remember to use a quality makeup remover and a balm or other moisturizer afterwards to rehydrate, your lips will thank you! Don't get discouraged if it takes a while to find the right shade of orangey goodness and remember to keep the rest of your makeup simple and let those lips take center stage.

Bold Prints

Peter Pilotto launches in Target on Sunday!

If we were excited about Zac Posen for David's Bridal, we're even MORE excited about Peter Pilotto at Target! Mostly because these pieces can be worn at any time for pretty much any occasion (to include the beach!) and they're even more affordable. You can bet that we will be in line at 8am on February 9th when the collection launches. From dresses, separates, swim-suits, accessories and even shoes we are on pins and needles to actually get our hands on this London-based line's collection.

In case you have absolutely no idea who Peter Pilotto is (it's okay, we won't judge) chances are you've seen their pieces on some famous ladies...like Kerry Washington, Selena Gomez, Emma Watson (yup, Hermione is a fan), Miranda Kerr and fellow angel Candice Swanepoel just to mention a few. What you probably didn't know is that the Peter Pilotto label is actually Peter Pilotto AND Christopher De Vos - they're the creative geniuses behind those one-of-a-kind prints and stunningly bold designs.

Be forewarned - this collection is certainly not for the wallflower, although there are plenty of floral prints in the pieces. If you're the kind of girl who likes to blend in with the crowd this probably isn't going to be your first choice but we encourage you to jump outside your comfort zone and at least try it on (you might surprise yourself!). Described as "bright and energetic" on Target's website we'd wager that is right on point. Full of prints and bright colors this collection will catapult your wardrobe into Spring no matter what the temperature is outside. See our favorite looks below!

Truly Zac Posen for Brides Everywhere

It's not exactly news that high-end designers team up with stores that cater to a slightly larger audience (think Target and well, everyone) but what is news is the Truly Zac Posen for David's Bridal. Actually it's very exciting. For one it's Zac Posen. Yes, the guy who dresses those fabulous women at awards shows - Sofia Vergara pops into mind with that stunning black gown at this years Golden Globes.

We've all seen the runway shows that left your jaw on the floor and your heart beating a little faster than normal and you trying to do some creative math to see just how much you would have to skimp for the next six months just to afford one teeny tiny little piece. Well now is your chance - these dresses are not only stunning they are also affordable with the wedding dresses ranging from $875 to $1350 and come in sizes 0 to 26 and the social dresses ranging from $195 to $225 and coming in sizes 0 to 14. Gorgeous and available to those who aren't model-thin. I'm not sure it gets much better than that.

What's most exciting is that it LAUNCHES TOMORROW on February 6th! So ladies, if you're thinking about getting married or renewing vows or you're like me and really just want to see those gorgeous gowns, head on over to David's Bridal on your lunch break tomorrow (or you could make an appointment, that works too). Known for his beautiful fit and flair gowns, detailed construction and feminine embrace of a woman's curves, Zac Posen doesn't disappoint with these bridal gowns.

A Touch of the Extravagent from Zuhair Murad's Couture Collection

Zuhair Murad has been altering his techniques since launching his first collection (which is normal with any designer) and this Spring 2014 Couture Collection as an exercise in extravagance. The garments ran the gamut from stunning gowns and jumpsuits to sexy cocktail dresses and separates and beautiful gold belts that cinched in the models' waists were seen on every look (save the finale wedding dress).

A garden was the main focus of the collection - peonies, camellias and roses in delicate bunches and stunning embroidery intermixed with sequins and feathers for extra drama. Murad showed us that it wasn't just evening gowns that he was capable of creating though, ivory suiting was mixed in with glamorous gowns complete with a double row of gold buttons.

The formal dresses were the stars of the show in varying shades of yellow, lilac, baby blue, ivory and black. These creations were absolutely stunning: the chiffon created lightness and while many of the garments were sheer they managed to remain elegant as opposed to provocative. Zuhair Murad seems to have really found his niche as a designer that designs chic yet superbly sexy creations. We can't wait to see what's next!
