Starla Little is no stranger to being in front of the camera; tall and thin with beautiful bone structure it's no surprise that she has been modeling off and on for over 12 years. These days she finds herself more on the other side of the camera though, using her extensive knowledge as a model to her advantage as a photographer while making her models more comfortable. She knows that the one magic photo that thousands of people will see is the result of probably hundreds of shots, editing and uploading but she won't show the world a picture just any picture - if fact, she won't publish anything that she wouldn't put in her own portfolio.
It's no secret that there has been a lot of controversy over the years revolving around the fashion world, specifically the modeling aspect. Too young, hours too long, not getting paid enough (or at all) and, most often, the always present 'is she too thin'? We're not getting into the specifics and we aren't taking sides, we know some girls are naturally thin and some aren't but regardless a lot of models feel the pressure. Starla Little is no exception. In the modeling world there are well publicized expectations of height, chest, waist and hip measurements that don't exactly promote the healthiest relationship with one's body. It's this love/hate relationship with the industry that kept Starla going back and forth between walking in runway shows and posing for photoshoots and taking a step back and really looking at the big picture.
Having been around photographers growing up and an interest for film, Starla came up with a creative for an editorial in 2013 but couldn't find anyone to actually take the pictures. Not one to give up that easily, she decided to take matters into her own hands and learn the art of photography herself. And she didn't just learn - she's well on her way to becoming a pro with the portfolio to prove it: with her own PhotoVogue account, several of her photographs have made it onto the Vogue Italia website. We're certain that we will see a photo or two popping up in a local magazine soon and the only limit after that is Starla's own imagination. We can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
